Origin was filmed within the vast subterranean passages beneath Madrid. Images of this hollow underworld are combined with immersive sound to examine the nature of time and the ways cinema shapes our perception of past, present and future realities.

The film summons ghosts of Mesopotamian warriors while anticipating human catastrophe and unfamiliar posthuman behaviours. In these smooth underground labyrinths, forces of deep antiquity appear to awaken and return.

Severed from conventional chronology, these chambers exist outside stable distinctions between past, present and future, where the boundary between the real and the imagined becomes uncertain. They are sites of burial and rebirth, of fossils and emergent life systems, of gods, monsters and hidden transformations.

Dark, timeless and labyrinthine, Origin draws the viewer into an architecture beneath the recognisable surface of the Earth—perhaps beyond the temporal strata of human life itself—where narrative dissolves into haptic perception, spectral presences and unknown forms of language.
